Counsellor or Kaiwhakamahereora: the person who supports you to plan your own well-being. All of us get thrown off balance at times: distressing events, ongoing stress, and tiredness, unresolved grief or hurts from the past, fears for the future, and tensions in our relationships all impact our bodies and minds in ways that impede our natural ability to live purposeful and fulfilling lives.
As a counsellor, Rosalind (aka Rosa) works with clients in a closely collaborative and compassionate way so that together we can explore issues at depth, be open to natural processes of emotional healing, resolve conflicts, and find workable strategies to foster and sustain supportive change. Rosa works with individuals, couples and families. She supports you to find a way forward that accords with your values and hopes and builds on your resources and strengths. She has a special interest in mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural therapies such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and CFT (Compassion Focussed Therapy), and also in ways that communication processes and contextual shifts can assist the effective ‘rewiring’ of our brains to combat the effects of stress, trauma, depression, anxiety and shame. Rosa has lived and worked in different cultural settings and was a university teacher, staff mentor and supervisor of research students for many years.

Anna (she/her) opens up a warm and welcoming space for people to reflect on their experiences and explore their difficulties, challenges, and joys together. She takes a person-centred approach to working with clients, listening deeply and with compassion, and draws on a variety of therapeutic models to see what might work best for each person. Anna is particularly interested in Internal Family Systems and creative approaches to working — but mostly, she is interested in people. This comes in part from her background in journalism — she brings a love for hearing people's stories, an awareness of how social and systemic factors affect individuals, and a deep sense of appreciation for the creative ways people survive and grow, even in impossible circumstances.

In the past year, Riley has been a supervisor for the youth counselling phone line, What's Up, which has allowed him to see the current concerns and challenges young New Zealanders are facing.
